Banquo is a foil (paragraph)

Banquo is the perfect foil to Macbeth. A foil is a character that follows the same storyline as the protagonist but makes different choices. Both Banquo and Macbeth are Thanes at the beginning of the story, they are also both coming back from war. They are both greeted by the witches and are given prophecies, this is when the first choice is made. Macbeth decides that he must make the prophecy a reality while Banquo waits for the prophecy to come. Also Banquo questions the witches while Macbeth believes what he heard almost immediately. But Banquo goes through the same story path as Macbeth.

Heroic Couplets

Soliloquy: when a character thinks out loud and changes his mind frequently.
Heroic Couplet: at the end of the soliloquy, means a decision has been made. 2 lines that iambic pants meter that rhyme.
"Hear it not Duncan for it is a knell
That summons thee to heaven or to hell."
